At the edge of picturesque Poros Town, on a green island surrounded by the blue Saronic sea, we've renovated Metaxa House - a traditional waterfront townhouse (built in 1890) and now share it with old and new friends. The house consists of 2 separate apartments on 2 floors.
And it's only a 7-minute walk from the ferry boat and town center, with tavernas and cafes right next door - a quiet yet central location (Maximum 20 steps to climb!) Parking is available in front of the house.
Enchanting waterfront apartment with veranda
This lovely studio apartment with unobstructed sea views on the ground floor of our traditional townhouse has been lovingly restored, keeping all the charm and the spacious veranda facing the sea, and adding modern amenities .
The apartment is suitable for 2 or 3 guests (3rd on the sofa). We've even designed a writing area with a wonderful sea view that has already inspired several writers, poets and screenwriters, who've nicknamed it the Romantic Writers' Studio.
When renovating the apartment, we fused its local character (all the houses in the Poros Town are under strict preservation rules) with the comfort we are accustomed to: a great shower for 2, careful yet welcoming and relaxing design, comfortable beds, and everything you need to enjoy your stay: wifi, air-conditioning, built-in refrigerator, hotplate, coffee maker for Greek coffee, kitchenware & ample parking in front of the house.
Waterfront apartment with private garden
On the second floor of Metaxa house is a large apartment, with 4 rooms, a magical garden in the back and a small balcony with breathtaking views.
Climb 20 steps and enter the patio with a garden built in the form of terraces on the mountain made of rock, offering total privacy. Guests can relax in this spacious
house and beautiful patio and garden right on the waterfront.
When we renovated the apartment 2 years ago, we were careful to keep its old-world charm yet make it comfortable and appealing, with a spacious and stylish bathroom with a separate shower and a bathtub. In this apartment one side faces to the deep blue of the sea and the other side - the green garden, with flowers and trees.
We invite you to imagine yourself sitting in the beautiful terraced garden, drinking a cool glass of refreshing lemonade (you're welcome to make lemonade from the fruits of our zesty lemon trees, next to the pomegranate) while sunbathing, or eating a Greek salad in the garden table. At sunset, nothing compares to sitting in the balcony, watching the sea and sky change colors as you sip local wine. At night step out to look up at the sky and you'll see the beautifully clear, star-studded sky.
The two apartments can be rented separately or you can enjoy the entire house.
These are self-catering apartments, which means that service does not include changing bed linen, cleaning, or washing during your stay. These services are available by contacting local service providers.
We carefully prepare the house for your arrival: thorough cleaning, making up the beds, fresh bed linen and towels and getting things ready to welcome you.
Much of the house’s charm is its history – a traditional town house dating back more than 120 years, so we ask you to help us continue to preserve and care for it.
Arrival
Most visitors to the Island choose to travel to Poros Town by ferry. Unless you have lots of baggage, the best way to reach Metaxa House is to stroll along the waterfront (no climbing) from the ferry dock. Just turn right (when facing the town) and walk along the seafront for about 7 minutes - and you’re home! If you prefer, you can also find taxis parked next to the ferry landing.
